Ways to detox your body

Detoxification is actually the removal of toxins from our bodies and is primarily carried throughout circulation and sweating. It improves health and also promotes weight loss.

They often involve the use laxatives, diuretics, vitamins, minerals etc.

We must concentrate and focus on the body’s natural detoxification system.

The word ‘toxin’ includes heavy metals, processed foods, synthetic chemicals, etc.

To remove these toxins from the body, it involves organs like liver, kidneys, digestive system, skin and lungs and so they should be also in a healthy state and then only they can effectively eliminate the unwanted substances from the body.

Here are a few most effective ways by which you can get the bad toxins out and welcome the elements that your body requires-

1.   Water-

Water is just not used to ease our thirst but also helps in lubricating our joints, reduces the hunger sensations, boosts our energy levels and of course helps in detoxification; especially via our kidneys, skin and bowel movements.

If our hydration level is just adequate, the body is prone to fewer diseases.

Make a target to at least drink 7-8 glasses of water daily.

2.   Include vegetables and fruits in your diet-

To detox our body, it needs certain nutrients like vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, fiber, etc. we generally find all of these nutrients in fruits and vegetables and that is why it becomes necessary to eat them in good quantity.

Vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, brussel sprouts and kale have phytochemicals and are also rich in sulfur compounds. They have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits.

Vegetables and fruits support liver detoxification and increases glutathione production which is an important antioxidant for reducing oxidative stress.

3.   Put in herbs and spices-

If you want to improve circulation, relieve pain, reduce cancer risk and support liver then turmeric is a well-known anti-inflammatory root. It helps to detox by increasing glutathione levels in the body.

Try to include herbs like garlic, ginger, thyme, rosemary and other herbs and spices.

4.   Avoid intake of alcohol-

Almost 90% of the alcohol consumed is metabolized in the body by the liver and while this is going on, the other calories get stored.

The enzymes present in liver metabolize the alcohol consumed to acetaldehyde which is a well known cancer causing chemical.

Although moderate to low consumption of alcohol is beneficial for heart health, excessive drinking of it can cause a lot of health problems.

Drinking excessive alcohol can damage the liver by causing building up of fat, inflammation and scarring.

Because of this buildup, the liver cannot function well and adequately like filtering waste and other toxins from the body.

5.   Have green tea-

Drinking green tea not only helps in weight loss but has extremely good amount of antioxidant. Consumption of green tea protects the liver from diseases and especially from fatty liver disease.

Fluids like these are essential for keeping our organs healthy and necessary to flush toxins out from the body.

Consumptions of fluids and liquids is essential for the detoxification of the body.

6.   Sleep well-

Quality sleep is very necessary for the body. We need sleep the most when we’re in stress, anxious and overburdened with work. This is the time when our body needs sleep the most.

While we sleep, our body repairs, heals and restores itself and help us prepare for the next day work routine.

It becomes more important because the brain’s waste removal system i.e. the glymphatic drainage system clears away toxins that may lead to neurodegenerative disease.

According to many experts, 7-9 hours of quality sleep at night is important.

7.   In between works, take stretch breaks-

Sitting at just one place while continuously working will prove to be a damage to the body.

For this, take a break once an hour for say only five minutes and stretch your body and move around.

It will reduce fatigue level, will make your blood flow through the muscles and will give a boost to your heart rate thus burning the calories.

A quick stretch is the best and an enjoyable way to detox your body.

8.   Reduce the intake of sugar and processed foods-

It is because of increased intake of sugar, processed foods and junk food that most of the public today is dealing with health crises.

All these foods are linked to obesity, chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Because of these diseases, the ability of body to naturally detoxify itself is hindered.

By reducing the consumption of these foods, you can keep the body’s detoxification system healthy and intact.

9.   Exfoliate your skin-

To eliminate poisonous elements from your skin, exfoliate it. Through this, there is a better flow of blood in the body and skin.

10. Chew your food properly-

You will enjoy the food if you eat it slowly and chew properly. It may take you some time but will help you in a long run and improves your digestive system.
