A person feels a burning sensation, pain or discomfort while urinating. This can be caused due some infectious or non-infectious conditions. It is more common in women than in men. In men also, it occurs at an elderly stage than in the younger age. These infections may occur in any part of the urinary tract which may include kidneys, ureters, bladder or urethra. These infections are most often caused by bacteria that enter the urinary tract through the urethra. This infection is usually confined to urethra, prostate or urinary bladder. Eliminating urine is a function of Apanavayu. When there is a disturbance in the Apanavayu that causes problem in urination. According to Ayurveda, there is one such recognized disease called Mootrakruchhra which has been classified into various types in Ayurvedic medical science. Vataj Mootrakruchhra is mainly caused by vitiation of Vayu which is in turn marked by severe pains in pelvic region thereby causing obstruction in urination. Pittaj Mootrakruchhra which is mainly caused by vitiation of Pitta causes severe burning micturition with reddish or yellowish urine. Kaphaj Mootrakruchhra which is mainly caused by vitiation of Kapha is characterized by swelling and heaviness in pelvic region and sticky urine. Sannipatik Mootrakruchhra which is mainly caused by vitiation of all the three Doshas and therefore has mixed characteristics.
Ayurvedic medicines for Mootrakruchhra can normally prevent surgical interference in these above mentioned conditions. In the ayurvedic treatment of burning micturition the line of treatment involves the removal of infection with internal detoxification, cleaning and removing any blockages in the urinary tract which is combined with herbs to tone the kidneys and normalize the functioning of Apanavayu.
There are some tips which Shubhjeevan Ayurveda recommends which can be taken into consideration to avoid burning micturition:
- One must drink plenty of fluids which help in flushing the urinary tract.
- Always urinate before going to bed
- This is an important tip which people usually miss but is important for the health. Always urinate after sexual intercourse.
- Maintain good hygiene
- Avoid use of any irritating product outside your genitals while you experience any burning sensation.
There are a few ayurvedic home remedies which can be taken into consideration if a person feels mild sensation while urinating. One may mix jaggery with hot milk and can take many times a day to alleviate the burning sensation. Prepare a powder with equal quantities of gokshura and cardamom and the said powder can be taken along with honey.
