Rejuvenate your skin as you welcome summer because we also welcome the dryness and the damage it causes to the skin. The skin is exposed to the harmful UV rays that increases the risk of the skin cancers and the various allergies and problems it brings along.
During the summers, it becomes extremely important to take care of the skin and to keep the skin rejuvenated all long the summer season.
This season is although full of sweat and dirt, but it also brings the juiciest fruits and other refreshing things that can keep our body cool. The skin can easily be prevented as long as we take care of it properly.
So, let us go through the 5 tips that we must keep in mind to rejuvenate our skin this summer-
- Be aware of the Sun-
Direct rays of the sun are very harmful for the skin. One must avoid going out in the sun unless really important.
It is between 10am to 2pm that the rays of the sun are at its peak. Avoid going out between these hours. Direct sunlight is harmful for the skin and so one must keep the skin covered all the time if he/she is out or you can opt to stay inside during these hours.
Devote some extra time in summers to your skin and take care of your skin because the sun will do no good to it.
What all can you do?
- Apply sunscreen-
Although sunscreen is something you wear all year round, but it becomes more important to wear it during the summer time. You must choose the sunscreen that has a broad spectrum; that protects you from both UVA and UVB rays and has a SPF of 30 or above.
The sunscreen takes 15 minutes to absorb into the skin, so apply it before leaving the house.
Also cover all the skin parts that are exposed to the sun.
- Plan the outdoor routine wisely-
Avoid the outdoor activity as much as you can because the sun is too harsh especially during its peak hours. Schedule your routine for an early morning before10am or later the same evening.
- Make sure you know the expiry dates of the products you use on your skin.
- Exfoliate every week-
If you want to see glowing and radiant skin, exfoliate your skin. Exfoliation will remove the dead layer of the skin and speed up the natural process of healing the skin and production of collagen.
It will remove the dry, dull and the rough patches on the skin and will help the skin to glow.
- Keep yourself hydrated-
Our body is largely made up of water. In the soaring temperatures of the summer heat, one must keep themselves hydrated.
Keeping outdoors will damage your skin and not keeping it well hydrated will further add up to more dryness in your skin. And because of this, you may feel more dehydrated, headache and dizzy all day long.
To avoid this, you must drink 8-10 glasses of water daily and throughout the day.
Drinking water will help flush out the harmful toxins from the body and prevents the diseases. Staying hydrated all through the day will have favorable effects on the skin.
It is important to keep hydrated because our body loses large amounts of water each summer day through sweat and hence quickly becomes dry, flaky and tight too fast.
To let your skin keep looking young and glowy all summer long and avoid any fine lines, wrinkles or any other sign of aging, you must drink water and stay hydrated.
- Wear sunglasses/hats-
Your eyes are also a delicate part which is also affected by the harmful UV rays of the sun. They do need protection because the skin around the eyes is delicate and are prone to skin cancer.
For this, the best way to safeguard the eyes and eyelids are sunglasses.
But here too, make sure that the sunglasses are also UVA and UVB protected. It is important as it helps to prevent cataracts and muscular degeneration and reduces the need to squint thereby improving the vision and preventing fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes.
- Look up to your diet-
While the glow and rejuvenation of your skin largely depends on what you consume, you must consider your eating and dietary habits.
A packet of chips must be replaced by a bowl of fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants.
Include spinach and kale or should we say all green leafy vegetables to rejuvenate your skin as they are high in vitamins.
Other healthy choices of foods can include salmon, walnuts, flaxseeds oil which are filled with Omega-3 essential fatty acid that promotes healthy cell formation in the skin.
Have a strong control on the intake of sugars because high amount of sugar intake in the diet can cause wrinkle and dulling of the skin.
Besides these foods, you must first quit smoking, in case you are a smoker.
Not only does it cause serious diseases like lung cancer, it also causes plethora of skin diseases. The nicotine in cigarettes causes the blood vessels to swell which thereby thins the layer of skin.
Smoking reduces the body’s collagen production that causes sagging of the skin.
Vitamin C is a necessary element for hydrated and plump skin but smoking depletes the body of the vitamin.
Besides smoking, another thing that one must reduce is the consumption of alcohol.
It helps your skin to age faster because consumption of alcohol causes the vessels in the skin to dilate. This increases the blood flow near the surface of the skin which in due course of time will permanently damage them leading to blotchy, unevenness and red complexion.
Have alcohol, but in a moderate level.
